Great post here by Josh talking about the need for data silos to be broken down -- a common theme that many people are talking about. The issue is incentivizing interoperability. A network of loosely coupled niche consumer-facing business services is, in my opinion, the answer -- and is exactly what I am working on with the ActoNetwork. In my opinion, though, I don't think people are fully appreciating how radical this change is going to be; a network of businesses will have more loyalty to the laws of their network than to the laws of their country, and this is going to raise some serious legal issues that may thwart the whole thing -- especially if people are more interested in talking about alleged Eva Longoria sex tapes than about serious law and government issues that have enormous, world-changing consequences for businesses. -- KM
