AdvancedOperators wants to know (via Marshall Kirkpatrick). For me, one of the most valuable and underappreciated tools is FeedRinse. It's great for a few reasons:

1. It's free!
2. It helps you remix RSS feeds. While stuff like Yahoo! Pipes and Google Mashup Editor also claim to offer such functionality (as well as many others), none are as simple as FeedRinse. Which leads to my next point....
3. Killer interface. For anyone interested in seeing AJAX at its finest, check out FeedRinse.

The larger economic point regarding tools, though, is that they are in the process of being commoditized, as value capture opportunities shift away from the tools and to the tool users. This will inevitably lead to better and more powerful tools created via open source production communities (so that development cost can be reduced, while value capture opportunities via tool usage are retained and even enhanced).
