Can Music Save the World?
As I've been blogging about, I plan on putting out a concept album through iTunes and such. It should have about 10 songs on it -- some stuff I wrote last year that is currently not for sale (on YouTube though) as well as some songs I'm working on now. Thus far, the lyrics are totally done, the music for six songs is done, the music for two more are almost done, and the music for the last two has not been started yet. My goal is to have it complete by the end of May, though admittedly that may be a tough goal to reach -- I work seven days a week on my trading site, and I'm trying to find time to be a bit more social this year, so it may be tough. Well, definitely some time this year, it'll be complete and uploaded to iTunes/Amazon/Rhapsody etc.
Regular readers know I don't care much for selling music -- I don't view it as fun from a music perspective, and like many I think it is increasingly an unfeasible business model (see our posts on the future of music). And so while the songs will be for sale, I don't plan on earning much money from them (thus far I've earned a few hundred bucks from my stuff in iTunes, the majority of which comes from my song for Eminem). But, I think I'm going to try to use my concept album to market this web site, and of course, The Business Plan That Saves the World. Specifically, I'll sell investment funds offered by my trading site, as well as gold, which I still recommend. I'll probably create a "hard money" fund for that will invest in commodities and precious metals, assets that people who live in fear of inflation (that's me!) love. I spent today contacting some investors, of course that's always a long shot, doubly so when you're a kook calling himself Kid Mercury. Now that my business is becoming more stable, I think it makes sense to find a way to get more money to put in, to step on the pedal a little bit to see if things can be accelerated. I'm fortunate, though, that my business is on the path of survival and growth even without external investment. At least for now -- let's hope it stays that way! |
