If you're a fan of British pop/rock, you've likely heard that Oasis has broken up. Basically Noel says he can't put up with Liam anymore.


I wonder if this is a marketing stunt, or another instance where they will break up momentarily only to re-unite a few weeks later.

This is sad for folks like me who know that Oasis is like the Beatles -- only better. That's right folks, no need to do a double take, I did just say that. I did just commit rock n' roll blasphemy of the highest magnitude. But hey, by now you've surely come to expect nothing but the painful truth here at KidMercuryBlog.com -- so this statement is just business as usual.

And while it is a bit sad to see one of the greatest acts in popular music history disband, I'm actually a bit pleased in a way. For starters, hardcore Oasis fans like myself know that the band could have been even bigger had they marketed themselves a bit differently. Oasis with Liam Gallagher as the lead singer is more like a hard rock band; when Noel is on lead vocals, Oasis is more Beatle-esque, which I think would have made them more popular and accessible to casual music fans. But now that Oasis has disbanded and Noel has talked about a solo career, the world may finally come to learn just how preposterously talented this guy is as a songwriter. Noel said if he ever went solo he'd be "bigger than Elvis" - a statement whose arrogance is surpassed only by its truthfulness.

Anyway, in honor of Oasis and as a taste of what hopefully will come from Noel Gallagher as a solo artist, below is list of the best Oasis songs/performances with Noel on vocals. Of course, the true genius of Noel is his ability to write happy songs that don't sound cheesy; nobody cheers up their fans quite the way Noel does. That's why he's the best!

So here it is, the best of Noel Gallagher. And this is just scratching the surface, Noel's got tons of gems. It's unfair, really.
