Learning About Market Positioning Through InformedForex.com

Next up in Operation ActoRe-launch is InformedForex, a social news community to help you learn to trade forex.

One of the things I'm still struggling with in terms of the ActoNetwork is the notion of positioning. I'm going to use InformedForex to participate more in the customer relations segment of the map. The basic strategy will be to attempt to create a process network that delivers customized products to customers (forex traders). This is essentially the same strategy employed by Hong Kong based trading firm Li & Fung.

Here's a nice article on Li & Fung, and how they successfully positioned themselves in the customer relations segment through the use of open process networks. Li & Fung's strategy is brilliantly analyzed by John Hagel in two of his books: The Only Sustainable Edge and Out of the Box.

I do consider Hagel to be the reigning king of Internet strategy; the ideas he offered ten years ago are still cutting edge today. I just finished reading Out of the Box -- an outstanding book that I think all Internet business people should read. It's been added to the list.
