Well folks, I sat down with myself last night and had a real heart to heart with myself, did a good bit of soul searching. I said to myself, "Hey Kid Mercury, is it time to change the national anthem here at KidMercuryBlog.com?" As regular readers know, our national anthem up until this point was "You're a Spirtual Being With a Destiny." But alas, I think it's time for a change.

While I personally think that song captures the spirit I'd like to communicate, I think "Proud to be a Conspiracy Theorist" is far catchier, as well as having far more entertainment value. At least it still makes me chuckle! I tend to think it's the most commercially viable conspiracy song I've written, though of course truth, while it is a growing market, is still shunned. I'm expecting the Truth Movement to plateau a bit until the next crisis. The dollar crisis will be our biggest opportunity to get people to seek and demand the truth.

Readers will also recall that this song was dedicated to the venture capital community; see our dedication in our blog post, "Venture Capital Continues to Take Ass Whupping From Blogosphere." LOL, probably my all time favorite blog post here on this blog. Anyway, it is fitting in many ways that a song dedicated to the VC community will serve as our national anthem, as the downfall of venture capital, something that has become a very common discussion since the economic crisis kicked into high gear in the second half of 2008, was virtually unheard of when I called it back in late 2006 (see our previous post, "Culture 2.0 and the Collapse of Corporate Finance"). I then went around and commented at least once on virtually every Internet VC's blog, in hopes of fulfilling my destiny, which is simply to serve as the messenger who delivers the truth that sets you free.

And what was the response? Well, such prognostications were not welcome, and were in fact despised and ignored (with the exception of Fred, who at least humors me and is probably honest enough to know that much of what I am saying is simply the obvious and irrefutable truth). Of course, as I rap in our new theme song: "No matter how much you doubt me I'll always serve the truth....proudly!" And so I was not deterred by such attitudes. I simply stuck to the truth, knowing all too well that it is the only solution. Let me repeat that: THE ONLY SOLUTION.

Of course now, lo and behold, we're in an economic crisis. What I said would happen has in fact happened. Is this because I am some special smart person? No. Is it because I pursue the simple truth and respect the undeniable facts? Yes.

And so, for those of us who are very interested in seeing a restoration of free markets and sound monetary policy -- i.e. entrepreneurs, investors, and capitalists in general -- the truth is essential. As always, the truth is not complicated and does not require any sort of special intellect. It does, however, require a bit of psychological fortitude. And that's where our national anthem, "Proud to be a Conspiracy Theorist" comes in. I hope it helps readers of this blog -- specifically entrepreneurs, new media revolutionaries, truthers, and investors -- find the courage to embrace the truth that sets them free.
