Racism 2.0
One of the things that's still alive and well, but has become inverted, is racism.
Racism 1.0 was about uncondtional hate. Being racist meant you hated someone just because of their skin color, regardless of other attributes they may have. Racism 2.0, on the other hand, is about unconditional love. You love criminals no matter what they do because of what race they are. In American history, Racism 1.0 is symbolized in the enslavement of Blacks; Racism 2.0 is symbolized by Barack Obama. Though the issue of racism is not just one that affects Black America, even though that is what gets the most attention here in the US. Israel is another prime example, where saying anything bad about Israel has become somewhat taboo, and how equating criticism of Israel with feelings of anti-Semitism. LOL. Hating on a country's political system and hating on a religion/culture are two different things -- something often overlooked in Racism 2.0. Over the next three years, though, we're going to see a major paradigm shift, and I think Racism 1.0 and Racism 2.0 will increasingly be seen for the follies they are. |
