GPL Has a (Very Bright) Networked Future

O'Reilly points to a Linux Magazine article that says GPL has no networked future.

That theory, though, assumes that the networked future is in a software as services environment.

In other words, it assumes there is a central place from which nodes of the network will spring.

That's the strategy Facebook is using.

But what if, instead, independently operated nodes decided to work together to create the network? And what if they used open source standards to facilitate combining nodes to create this network?

That's the strategy the ActoNetwork (the company I'm working on) is trying.
