Saturn and Venus in the Birth Chart
I been thinking about past relationships a lot lately, not sure why -- perhaps a manifestation of the recent eclipse in Aquarius as well as Jupiter's recent entrance into Aquarius, both of which activate my South Node in my 4th house -- which brings up feelings of the past, and prods us to learn our lessons and work accordingly with that energy.
Anyway, the type of person I tend to be most attracted to and psychologically compatible with can best be described as a Saturn/Venus person (because Saturn and Venus will usually be in aspect in the person's birth chart). My all-time favorite astrologer Liz Greene wrote about this quite brilliantly in her classic book, Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil. You can read the part about Saturn/Venus people for free here. The basic attributes of a Saturn/Venus woman are as follows: 1. For those interested in mythic astrology, Saturn/Venus often corresponds to the ugly duckling myth, in which the person is deemed ugly and rejected in their youth, but then blossoms into a symbol of beauty and glamour when they become adults. In modern cinema and television, we often see stories of the nerdy girl with glasses and braces who gets made fun of but then gets a makeover and becomes some smokin' hot babe and the dude who rejected her before is now worshipping at her feet. LOL. 2. But because of the rejection they faced in their youth, Saturn/Venus women often remain insecure, regardless of how much of a symbol of glamour they become in adulthood. As a result, their newfound glamour is not so much of a source of liberation, but rather a new form of imprisonment -- they are often perpetually in need of reassurance of their glamour, beauty, and self-worth. 3. Related to their feelings of unattractiveness is also deep-seated feelings of insecurity regarding their womanliness; they will typically feel insecure about their ability to perform traditionally feminine tasks (most typically childbearing and childrearing....in extreme cases their insecurity regarding these matters can result in physical infertility, menstruation problems, etc). 4. Because Saturn/Venus women are often insecure in their own femininity, they are suitable "hooks" for other women to project insecurities on to. As a result, Saturn/Venus women are often disliked and hated by their fellow females (often even more so if they become symbols of glamour). While this sets the stage for many great catfight fantasies for men, it can be extremely damaging to the self-esteem and psychological health of the Saturn/Venus woman. 5. A consequence of the aforementioned is great insecurity about their sexuality, and great fear of intimacy. Saturn/Venus women are notorious for choosing partners not based on who they actually like or are compatible with, but rather someone whom they know they will be able to keep at a distance, away from their vulnerabilities -- basically someone they can use to avoid intimacy altogether. Typically there is one relationship early on in the lives of Saturn/Venus women that has a traumatic effect and sets the stage for everything else. Not all with Saturn/Venus is negative, though. If used positively, Saturn/Venus is often not just an expression of the ugly duckling myth, but also the sacred whore myth. They can become people who can give themselves without losing themselves, who are very open, confident, and can have great healing powers and an ability to empathize with people. There can also be great artistic talent, as well as great discipline in matters related to art and money. Like always attracts like, so the fact that I always tend to attract and be attracted to Saturn/Venus women would suggest that I have many of the same issues, but coming from a male perspective. In the context of my chart, my Sun/Saturn conjunction, as well as Saturn sextile Venus and Sun square moon, could reinforce the themes on insecurity in my sense of masculinity. Certainly when I was younger I was insecure in my sense of masculinity, and thus would often get in fights, or would pursue girls not so much because I actually liked them, but because I thought I would be tougher and "more of a man" if I secured their affection and admiration. Hey, we're all dumb and young at some point. ![]() Anyway, there you have it: your guide to understanding Saturn/Venus women. Use it wisely! |
