My Marketing Campaign for the Greatest Marketing Holiday
I'm a big fan of seasonal marketing -- taking advantage of marketing opportunities that arise because of cyclical changes. For instance, from a search engine marketing perspective, around Halloween it may be advantageous to create Halloween-related content and use it to get links from Halloween-related web sites and rank for the increasing amount of Halloween-related queries (because it is on people's minds during the season). Regardless of what niche you're in, there are always seasonal marketing opportunities -- it is simply a matter of finding the right angle.
Anyway, the biggest marketing holiday of all will be upon us shortly: Valentine's Day. As a seasonal marketing campaign for this site, I wrote a song and recorded a video of me playing it. Check it: My Forever Valentine I wanted to be able to call the song "Valentine's Day Song" for marketing purposes, but lyrically it just wasn't happening. I put the words "valentine's day song" in parentheses in the title of the video on YouTube, though, so I should be able to weave my way into the ecosystem of valentine's day videos on YouTube, and get some traffic accordingly. I also wrote and recorded a song called "God's Home." I'm not a huge fan of it, I mean it's okay, but b-side material. I like "My Forever Valentine" more, I think that's radio friendly, doubly so if you cut the first minute out. Too bad all the radio stations are owned by Clear Channel, which is controlled by the Carlyle Group. Those folks will be hatin' on me permanently since I dropped "Proud to be a Conspiracy Theorist" on all ya'll. But my game is digital, so I don't need those rookies anyway. Instead I advertised my video on YouTube for queries related to Valentine's Day. |
