CNN is reporting on a new study by American University's Center for the Study of the American Electorate that concludes that Obama-mania resulted in < 1% increase in voter turn-out. Republicans were down about 1.3% and Democrats were up about 2.6%. The squishy middle was about the same. In 2004, about 122 million votes were cast, roughly 60% of all eligible voters. In 2008, the number jumped to 127, slightly more than population increase, or 61% of the electorate.
