It Took Three F'ing Years, But It Looks Like My Business Is Finally Working
October was a record month for my business. Our revenue is up significantly, and more and more businesses are starting to show interest in working with us. This is very exciting for me and my fledgling company, though this is just the beginning. We are going to change the world, you can bank on it.
To recap, my business plan is summarized in my report on the Mythology of Web 2.0. For a broader look at our business strategy, you can see all my business reports. Unfortunately, I cannot show you which one of my sites is working for us, as my colleague has ordered a quarantine on KidMercuryBlog.com. This is understandable; the American people don't want to know the Truth, and will hate you and cut you out of society if you tell them the Truth. But it should not be too hard to find my site if you want to (though if you find it please don't mention this site on there ).Anyway. Here are the key points I've learned based on the success my business has enjoyed thus far: 1. Niche communities are the future of the web. This is something I have blogged about many times before, and why I am a big fan of businesses that bank on this trend -- most notably Ning, the business of seasoned entrepreneur/9-11 truther Marc Andreessen. 2. CPC/CPM advertising -- meaning stuff like banner ads and even Google text ads -- are on the way out. SponsoredReviews/ReviewMe/PayPerPost are examples of ad models that I think will work, as well as covert text link buying. Search engine marketers know that this can be a great tool in increasing your search engine visibility, though they are great for building buzz in the blogosphere as well. Ultimately, the future of advertising is about blurring the distinction between advertising and content. 3. Blogging is the most effective way of building a community. 4. Trust is the most valuable asset for bloggers. It is the key to monetization. 5. Because they can get trust, bloggers can be online salespeople. This will be crucial in selling high touch products -- expensive, personalized, or sophisticated products/services that cannot easily be sold. 6. Open source, open source, open source. It has served me very well thus far and I expect this to accelerate. In spite of the good news, though, I'm not too pleased. Reasons: 1. I'm never satisfied, I always want more. There is still tons of room for improvement and way too much to learn. Tons of flaws in what we're doing too. 2. I'm exhausted. I've been exhausted for at least 18 months. 3. The global economy is done. While I told my co-founder back in 2006 that our business would take off as the US economy began to collapse, I am not really pleased to be right on this. Don't get me wrong; the American people are getting what they deserve. After all, if you refuse to acknowledge the Truth, if you think you don't have to serve it, if you choose to obey the Lie rather than the Truth, then you get what you deserve. So I view this collapse largely as karmic retribution; this is one of many similiarities I have with many of those in what has been dubbed the Christian Patriot movement (folks who combine an understanding of the global conspiracy with a rather dogmatic and often fundamentalist brand of Christianity) -- many of them view the economic downturn as punishment from God, and that the solution will not be obtained until we "get right with God." I wouldn't use those terms exactly, and I certainly prefer words like Truth (in my world Truth = God), karma, as well as an astrological outlook, but the idea is basically the same. Anyway, I still feel sorry for many Americans, even though they are willfully ignorant and will attack you if you try to show them the Truth. Their naivete is depressing, and the magnitude of what is going on is overwhelming, even though it may not seem that way yet. In reality the crisis is just getting started, but people don't want to learn the Truth. Quite tragic, even if such tragedy is self-imposed. 4. And of course, while our business is doing really well at this point, I'm still living a rather poor life. We are still re-investing virtually everything, and while our revenue streams are becoming more stable, they are not fully stable just yet. But stay tuned. We're going to make a lot of money and change the world. And slowly but surely, we're going to get everyone in on it. That, my friends, is the real conspiracy. ![]() |
