BIS: Credit Boom May Spark Depression
From Newsmax.com (via JonesReport):
The Bank of International Settlements (BIS) is warning that the global economy could be on the brink of a major depression similar to the one that passed in the 1930s. And: The BIS' report cited several worrying signs, including mass issuance of new types of credit instruments, soaring levels of household debt, extreme appetite for risk shown by investors and entrenched imbalances in the world currency system. Also worth noting is the economic crisis foreseen by Mayan calendar experts, which views an economic crisis as (1) a catalyst for a spiritual and political reawakening and (2) a shift in power from the West to the East. Maybe it won't happen, and we'll all continue to be fat and happy. But I believe in preparing for the worst while hoping for the best.
