I have no sympathy for the Dumbocrats (at least not anymore), but it is worth noting how Rethuglicans have historically painted Dumbocrats as weak in order to justify the creation of a war state. For instance, one of the reasons why JFK did not pull troops out of Vietnam faster was that he was afraid if he did so, he would be painted as "weak on communism" in the 1964 election, which he was campaigning for when the CIA assassinated him. Replace communism with terrorism, and you have today's version of the story (though Obama does not compare to JFK in the least). -- KM
