Operation LoveSong is a community project to write love songs. Not only love songs like romantic songs, but love songs in the broader definition of the word; i.e. brotherly love, spiritual love, love for random things (sunshine, taking a shower, etc).
Why?
There are a few reasons for Operation LoveSong:
1. Psychological Warfare. Though most people don't realize it, they are under attack. No, not from an almighty cave dweller named Osama Bin Laden, but rather from the criminals who orchestrate all the stuff we talk about on a daily basis. They are waging economic war against you by causing inflation, and are waging psychological warfare against you through the use of mainstream media (i.e. FOX, CNN, many Hollywood movies, pretty much all of television, Clear Channel, etc).
The reason this is being done is because these criminals essentially want to create a one world socialist government that gives them total control of the world and severely limits your freedom (see our courses for a fuller explanation of this). Their plan is to get you to choose this government. They manufacture problems, create false solutions, and get you to choose the false solutions they create.
This strategy can only work if people choose fear instead of love. I view fear and love as a continuum of sorts; the more fear you have in you, the less love you can give to others. Just as the criminals rely on creating fear, we must counter that by creating love. And hence, Operation LoveSong!
2. Too Many Songs Sitting Around Doing Nothing. I write songs regularly, I figure I might as well publish them online and try to create an online community around them.
3. Record Label Experiment. Business people, as well as music people, know that the music industry is on the verge of a massive restructuring. The existing labels don't know how to build profitable business models that revolve around giving away music for free. New record labels are needed, and I think there will be a certain type of label that emerges out of open community projects. I think American Idol, as awful as it is, is kind of a step in this direction; it is, in a way, an open community project, and it generates profits and helps develop and market talent.
4. Selling an Alternative Lifestyle. One of the big issues when talking about the global conspiracy stuff is that most people tend to feel very powerless in this situation. They have a "what can I do about it?" attitude. I think part of the solution is in selling people an alternative lifestyle. This includes an alternative way of shopping, an alternative culture, alternative media, alternative food, alternative healthcare, etc. Music, I feel can be a useful tool in selling an alternative lifestyle. In fact, from an economic/business perspective, I think the future of music is going to be in serving as an advertising/branding tool to sell a certain lifestyle. As an example of this, think of how Starbucks uses music to create a certain culture, which in turn breeds loyalty, repeat customers, and helps the firm differentiate itself from other competitors through the creation of a cultural brand. This relates to how record labels are being revolutionized; for instance, I don't think it is too far-fetched for Starbucks to become increasingly involved in investing in developing music that will be useful in helping the firm create the cultural brand it is going for.
5. Learning. Some things I feel are easier to communicate in song format. The story of how the world works is so massive and so far from what most people have been told in school and through the corporate media that it is very difficult to communicate, and obviously impossible to communicate to those who don't care to begin with (which is most people). I think songs can often help communicate the basic feeling in a simpler way. I find this to be particularly true for spiritual type stuff, i.e. Mayan calendar. I'm working on a song about 2012 that I hope will be a useful learning tool, and will illustrate what I mean by using music to educate.
6. Astrological Marketing. I want to experiment a bit more with astrological marketing -- i.e. timing marketing campaigns according to astrology. The rationale here is that at certain times you are more likely to be able to capture a zeitgeist. Internet marketers that are familiar with the importance of starting memes, or viral link patterns, may find it useful to see if there is a way to release your memes when mass consciousness is most receptive to your message. I haven't done this before, but would like to try it so that I can learn. I started by announcing this project and releasing the first batch of songs on June 3, 2008 -- the date of a new moon cycle, and thus a good time to initiate change.
That's about it. Next time, I'll run down the initial list of songs I've created. Remember that this is a community project, so you can get involved too! Just upload a video to YouTube and tag it "
operationlovesong" (without the quotes) and it'll automatically be imported into
