New RFID Law Doesn’t Protect Consumers’ Privacy - DRAFT - Media Buyer Planner

Washington state recently passed a law banning the use of RFID to gather private individual information without consent. The problem with the law, as noted in the article below, is that the law does NOT prohibit the collection of such information for marketing purposes -- it only protects against crimes like identity theft. I am a big fan of using RFID for marketing purposes, and think it is the future -- but customer permission is needed. Permission marketing! -- KM
