Song Notes I love Aimee Mann's song "That's Just What You Are." I drew from that song for the music.

The Adam Duritz reference is to a line Duritz sings in the Counting Crows song "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby."
How to Play The chord positions for the verses and chorus are G Em Bm D. The chord positions for the bridge at C Am Em G. These chords are played with the capo on the third fret. The chord progression borrows from Aimee Mann's "That's Just What You Are," which uses a similar chord progression, but in a different key.
The Jollier I Will Be

growin' up I was filled with misery
always mopin' depressed as can be
I was askin' God what is wrong with me
why is this my destiny

but now when I look back it seems to me
that I shouldn't take life so seriously
'cause what used to be a tragedy
has become a comedy

and so the older i grow
the jollier i will be

adam duritz told me
that the price of a memory
is the resonating memory
of a past tragedy
but mr. duritz what you said ain't complete
so i must amend what you said to me
'cause if your memory's a tragedy
with hindsight that can be a comedy

and so the older i grow
the jollier i will be

*scat singing*

but even if i could, i wouldn't change the past
why is that you might ask
'cause its memory lets me see
what it means to be free
and that's what gives me my energy
'cause the more of the past i learn to see
the jollier i will be

*scat singing*

tomorrow i dont know what it will be
maybe it will be a tragedy
but i dont mind, cause i know that's what precedes
every great comedy
yeah that's how the cycle has to repeat
that's how tragedy gets its meaning

and so the older i grow
the jollier i will be

*scat singing*
