This is a very nice step towards the future of publishing, as communities are certainly what content is supposed to create online. Of course, Last.fm is still relying on selling content, and thus on controlling the user experience, and thus on limiting the ability to remix, and thus on limiting the ability to create social value -- in other words, to create a community. So it can and will be outperformed. And it won't take as long to outperform it.
I still favor the ideas I presented in my report on Publishing 2.0.
