The Collapse Of MTV (or the Rise of Kid Mercury's Music Channel)
Let's start with something we can all agree on.
![]() MTV is a dying institution -- one of many institutions that we will see fall from grace during Pluto's transit through Capricorn as the matrix, the false reality we live in, continues to self-destruct. But what will replace MTV? YOU. Thanks to the Internet, anyone can be a broadcaster now. And so, it is the social influencers that will be "the next MTV" -- the ones that shape culture and collective tastes. Gone are the days where the influencers are monolithic corporations that bought their power; the new influencers are the individuals who can communicate, inspire, and, most importantly, build an online community. It is with this in mind that I've updated and re-launched Kid Mercury's Music Channel -- a music channel that aggregates videos from YouTube that reflect the music I like and want to share. In the future, getting on MTV won't be a big deal. In fact, it's on its way to being a negative -- a good way of associating yourself with no-talent, plastic acts designed more to be corporate dolls good for selling ads for products you don't need or want than artists who inspire and lead you to be the best you can be. Instead, in the future, it's going to be about finding a way to get in front of the online music influencers. Think mp3 bloggers, and YouTube remix channels like Kid Mercury's Music Channel. Kid Mercury's Music Archive: The Community Music Collection In addition to the music channel that features the latest videos imported, be sure to check out our collection of videos organized by artists. We'll be adding more regularly so stay tuned. To start things off, here's a song that's quite fitting when thinking about the future of MTV: it's Queen with "Another One Bites the Dust." |
