Operation ActoLearn: A Black Op in Internet Marketing

Operation ActoLearn is an ActoNetwork production designed to create public learning communities that help people learn for free while enabling publishers to profit.

At least that's the cover story, which you can read on the ActoNetwork site.

But you only need a cover story when you're running a black op.

And in reality, Operation ActoLearn is a black op executed by the ActoNetwork on behalf of the 9/11 Truth Movement. The idea is to create niche learning communities -- communities that help people learn about a niche subject. A news section will be included in each community, which will include the best of real citizen journalism in the US -- both videos and blogs. 9/11 Truth blogs and videos will certainly be a component, as the best journalists are defined by their ability to focus on important truths.

To spread Operation ActoLearn far and wide, I wanted start by targeting three groups: SEOs, because they will be the most effective in terms of consumer marketing; VCs, because they have influence in the business world; and kooks, because they are the best people this world has to offer (not because they are so special but rather because the sheeple are so willfully lame).

I'll start with the kooks. InfowarsNation was built for Alex Jones, and ActoCaspian was built for Dr. Katherine Albrecht. They are the excellent communicators with a passionate following who I think can really get the most out of Internet communities. I'm still struggling with how best to present the terms of the relationship between publishers and the ActoNetwork; I am trying to find a way where I can essentially manage the community, the publisher gets paid for promoting it, and the user is assured that their data is not shared and that the property will not be sold -- that it is essentially a public property.

In a way, Operation ActoLearn is an experiment in creating an e-business government.

Well, this is one venture I'll be working on with the ActoNetwork; still trying some other ideas as well. Whatever gets the money ball rolling -- gets the engine started, so to speak -- is what will get reinforced as the way to go.
